بعد سنتين و نصف من الحماس و التشوق و الاستثمار بالوقت و القوى البشريه على أمل انشاء حي ذكي على واجهة مدينة تورنتو المائيه، Sidewalk labs أعلنت شركة  
  عن التخلي عن طموحها لإنشاءه، و يعود السبب إلى الحالة الاقتصادية التي يمر بها العالم ككل بسبب وباء فايروس الكورونا. وجدت الشركة انه من الصعب إنشاءه من دون التخلي عن أجزاء مهمة و أساسية من المشروع التي تم تطويرها لجعله مشروع مستدام.

At the 3rd episode from the “Design Reader” Podcast, we talked about a sad news for The city of Toronto, do you still remember?
After two years and a half of excitement and research, Sidewalk labs has decided to abandon its plan and ambition to create a smart neighbourhood development at Toronto’s waterfront. 
Of course, it’s because of COVID19 Pandemic, and the economy crisis it has caused around the world,
Sidewalk labs has realized that it has become too difficult to proceed with such a project, without sacrificing core parts of it that have been developed to build a smart and sustainable neighbourhood.

شبكة هندسة الشرق الأوسط التي تم تأسيسها من قبل المهندس المعماري و الباحث رياض جوقة، أطلقت هالجناج بشكل هيكل مموج من وحي جمال الصحراء المحيطة و التراث البدوي، تم تصميمه بهدف إيجاد مساحه مظللة للزوار خلال فترة النهار، و للاحتفال و الراحة ليلاََ

Do you still remember episode 3 from our Podcast, where we discussed the proposed pavilion at Wadi-rum in Jordan?
When you see the pictures, it will remind you of a topography that we have seen before on another planet, which is Mars. That’s the project was considered as a case study for inhabiting arid lands in Mars by using the 3D printing technology to build it.
MEAN (Middle East Architecture Network) founded by Riyad Joucka, unveiled this wavy structure inspired by they beauty of wadi rum and bedouin heritage. The purpose of the design is to form a space of shade during the day and a place of celebration and rest at night.

تم تاجيل معرض بيينالي للعمارة يلي كان مفترض أن يبدأ ب ٢٣ مايو/ أيار ٢٠٢٠ إلى شهر مايو ٢٠٢١ بسبب الكورونا. وهالمعرض الذي يعتبر من أهم و أشهر المعارض العالمية في العمارة يحدث كل سنتين لمده ٦ أشهر في مدينة البندقية في ايطاليا
​.يحتفل المعرض بالعماره المعاصره، و لقد تم اختيار موضوع الحدث القادم الذي عنوانه "كيف سنعيش معاً؟ "من قبل القيم على هذا الحدث، هاشم سركيس

“Venice Architecture biennale” have been rescheduled untill may 2021 next year! This event happens every two years, and because of COVID-19 pandemic.
This event is one of the most important international exhibitions that that celebrates contemporary architecture. Hisham sarkis, the curator of “Venice Architecture biennale 2020” has chosen a the question of “how will we live together?” to be the theme for this year’s event. 
We will be looking forward for to see it next year!

ما تحمستوا تشوفو الصور من بعد ما سمعتوا هالخبر بالحلقة الثالثه من البودكاست؟
.تم العثور على ارضية فسيفساء و أسس فيلا رومانيه يعود تاريخها إلى القرن الثالث ميلادي في كرم من كروم ايطاليا، و تحديدا قرب مدينه فيرونا
لوحظ وجود هذه الارضية في عام ١٩٢٢ اي منذ قرن تقريبا، و بعد عقود من البحث الدقيق و الحذر خوفا من تلف هذه الارضية خلال عمليه التنقيب، تم اكتشافها و في حاله سليمه. حاليا يقوم المساحون بالتواصل مع اصحاب المزارع لتحديد انسب الطرق لجعل هذا الكنز متاحاً للجميع 
مازال البحث مستمراً على أمل وجود المزيد من هذه الارضيات التي تتميز باشكالها الهندسيه بالاحمر الداكن، الاخضر واللون الاسود.

Did you get excited to see the pictures after you heard this news in episode 3 of the Podcast?
After a decade of prospecting and delicated excavation, a mosaic floor have been discovered in an Italian vineyard near verona city. 
This amazing discovery was 1st noticed hundred of years ago with a remains of a roman villa that goes back to the same date. Excavation is still ongoing, hoping that more of these floors with dark red, green and black geometric design will be discovered. Meanwhile Surveyors are negotiating with farmers to achieve a solution, for a way to make this amazing discovery available for public.

Tamayouz award for excellence lunched a design challenge for 7 days, the challenge was to design the perfect living layout, that contains the basic needs for life within an area of not more than 25 square meters.
The winners were announced on the 31st of May this year and they have been selected through public voting.
Tamayouz Excellence Award is an international awards program established in 2012, and it champions the best architecture in the middle east and worldwide.

،التي مقرها في مدينة دبي ،X-Architects من وحي الكثبان الرملية الحمراء في قلب صحراء الربع الخالي بالمملكة العربيه السعوديه، طرحت شركه
 مشروع منتجع صحراوي، حصل على جائزه في التصميم. المشروع سيغطي ما يقارب ٢٤٠٠٠٠ متر مربع من الصحراء ليشمل على ٦٠ وحده فندقيه تطل على السبخات (بحيرات ملحيه) الصحراوية. و مع اقل تأثير على التضاريس الصحراوية، تم تصميم هذه الوحدات التي كانت مستوحاه من زهره الصحراء

Do you still remember this news from our Podcast 3rd episode?
X-Architects based in Dubai, recently released their new award winning project, desert hideaway resort in Saudi Arabia’s empty quarter that covers around 240,000 square meter of the desert, The proposal consists of  60 units over looking white salt lakes. With a minimum impact on the land these units have been designed in elongated structures which are inspired from the desert rose.

Don’t miss out the only hotel in the world designed by Zaha Hadid, in the interior and exterior, even the furniture!
ME hotel at the OPUS building have opened in March 2020. This Giant cubical building designed with a big irregular shaped void at its center that stretches on 8 floors in height. but if you see it from the opposite side it seems like it is composed of two towers connected from the top with a bridge that frames the void.

Early in February this year, Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo said that each resident in the city should meet their needs within a short walk or bike ride.
And after the city lock-down happened in Paris, the "15-minute City" and reducing the car usage became a great reopening plan, to avoid crowding on the public transportation and minimize the pollution that was considered a link to COVID-19 in the Mayor's opinion. Also, reducing car usage is one of the city's plans, and that will be achieved by taking away surfaces from car lanes and repurposing it as public community spaces.

We are all in this together!
Even the most leading fashion brands participated in fighting COVID19 pandemic. 
​Prada, COS and Louis Vuitton devoted their manufactures to produce surgical face masks due to the shortage. 
They were not alone, although Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga are producing cotton face mask.
Many of these brands also donated thousands of protective personal equipment (PPE).
